Why I'm running
Thank you for visiting my site and learning more about what inspires me.
Everyday in my fifth grade classroom I saw the future of our community and I realized their world would be a very different place in twenty years. That’s why I founded a non-profit, Greenfox Schools, which taught science and math to many children in Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. I saw how one person can change hundreds of lives.
Now I am running for Cambridge City Council because I care about the future of our community. I want every child to grow up in a safe and sustainable neighborhood. I want to protect what’s unique and special about Cambridge. I want to take what I learned in my classroom and apply it to the issues affecting families, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods.
I’m ready to roll up my sleeves, do the hard work and make the tough decisions it takes to get things done. Join me. Let’s go to work.

–Janie Katz-Kristy, Director - Green Streets Initiative
"Kristen is a smart, thoughtful, collaborative leader with a rigorous work ethic. Also a superb organizer, she will be a critical addition to the Cambridge City Council on issues, such as early education and community solidarity, and will be instrumental in envisioning and planning for current and future environmental crises."
